Rose DeWitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeLozier Funeral Service on Dec. 23, 2025.
Services to celebrate and remember the life of Rose Marie DeWitt will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in the chapel at DeLozier Funeral Service. Visitation will be the same day from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Rose passed away at her home in Chelsea on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was 59 years old.

Born in Claremore, OK to Raymond and Martha (Hendrix) Riley on June 20, 1966. Rose was raised and educated in her birth community and graduated from Claremore High School. She continued her education at RSU. The mother of three children, Kent, Elizabeth, and Katie. Rose devoted her whole life to caring for them and her family. She did work outside her home for a time at Taco Bueno in Claremore, where she was lucky enough to wait on Garth Brooks and get his autograph on a napkin. According to her family it became a prized possession.

A lady that was all about family, son Kent, said she was viciously loyal and protective of all of them. Rose had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun. An example of this is she told her two children she had one that looked scary and one that was scary. Family game day was something she looked forward to, and it was a family tradition. As a family they spent the day playing computer games and especially Rose's favorite, Mario. Rose had an ear for music and enjoyed listening to anything but Blues and Jazz. Reading and coloring were two of her favorite pastimes. No story about Rose would be complete unless you mentioned her favorite TV series Yellowstone and her liking of the documentary station. According to her family, many nights Rose would fall asleep with the documentary station on and you can rest assured she had watched the one about the super volcano Caldera located mainly in Yellowstone National Park.

A lady that has given her all to her family has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. Rose is survived by her children, Kent DeWitt and Elizabeth DeWitt and her husband Edward Rabbit, grandchildren, Leanna DeWitt, Jaclyn DeWitt, Daniel DeWitt, Joseph DeWitt, Andrew DeWitt, Dakota Rabbit, and Katie Rabbit, brother, Billy Riley, sister, Hope Amos, uncle, Dale Schumacher, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Katie Marie DeWitt, siblings, Mary, Barbara, Holly, Johnny, and Linda.
