Rose Dienst Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home - Erie on Aug. 17, 2024.
Rose Geraldine Dienst, age 83, departed this life into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Erie, Pennsylvania, with her son, Glenn Scott, and her Grandson, Nicholas, by her side. She was born in Newark, New Jersey on December 20, 1940, to the late Michael G. Tobia and Angelina Tobia (Livecchi) of Hillside, New Jersey. Rose graduated from Hillside High School in 1958 and the Berkeley School, East Orange, New Jersey in 1960.
Rose is survived by her two sons, Glenn Scott Graef and Tommy Graef (spouse Toni); her grandsons Nicholas Scott Graef and Yasier Jordan; her sister-in-law, Margaret Bisignani; her nephews Chad Elliott, Brian Bisignani (spouse Lisa) and Glenn Thomas Bisignani (spouse Lisa); and by Jo DeMarco-Graef, who is like a daughter.
Rose is predeceased by her two husbands, Gerald A. Dienst and Dexter Graef, her sister, Geraldine Tobia (Elliott), her nephew, Lance Elliott and her brother-in-law, Bill Bisignani. She was a woman who cared deeply for her family and friends, and even at the age of 83, she still demanded that her two sons let her know when they were home safe each night. She was a caring, loving mother right up to her last day.
Rose shared her husband, Gerry's, love of the Lord. Even when she was too ill to attend church in person at Calvary Presbyterian Church, she listened to the live-streamed services. She also loved the boardwalk, the beach, betting on the horses at the track, playing cards and dining out. She helped run Gerry's Law Firm until it closed, and then began working as Michael Gross's secretary at Kenney, Gross, Kovats & Parton Law Firm in Red Bank, NJ in 1986. Michael said that Rose was the only secretary he has ever had in his legal career. Rose was on the payroll and was still working when able at the age of 83 until she passed.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember her life on Saturday, August 24, 2024, with a short service beginning at 11:15 AM followed by the placement of her ashes in the mausoleum with Gerry. The service will be conducted at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, NJ. No formal funeral or viewing will be conducted per her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity that would honor her legacy, suggesting the Calvary Presbyterian Church Mission Program (https://calvarynj.org/giving/), 2263 Allenwood Road, PO Box 190, Allenwood, NJ 08720.
