Rose Marie Doerring, 90 of Monona, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Rose Marie was born June 22, 1934 to Victor and Welma (Ihde) Ruckdaschel in Postville, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.
Rose Marie was united in marriage with Oliver C. Doerring at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, on April 3, 1955. Two daughters were born to this union, Marsha and Marilyn. Rose Marie farmed with her husband, Oliver for thirty-two years and then retired to live in Monona in 1987. She also was a housekeeper for the Falb family and several other families in the Postville area and Medical Associates, Family Dentistry and Hanson Chiropractic in Monona. She continued to work for many years at the funeral home in Monona till age 85. Rose Marie enjoyed when family and friends stopped to visit. She had a large collection of spoons, and salt and pepper shakers that she proudly displayed in her home. She loved to listen to old time records, Country and Western and Polka. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha (Kenneth) Conway, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Marilyn (Michael) Rood, Monona; five grandchildren, Melissa (Derick) Gilbreath, Mindy (Matthew) Lovell, Megan (David) Sharp, Christopher (Sandra) Rood, Cory (Beth) Rood; nine great-grandchildren, Charlie and Mackenzie Gilbreath, Emma and Teagan Sharp, Adalisa, Abriana, Isaiah and Azariah Rood and Oliver Rood; sister-in-law, Betty Mae Timmerman of Decorah and many nieces and nephews.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband Oliver in 2005; great-grandson, Alijah Rood; her parents; brothers, Earl, Orville and Merill "Bobby" Ruckdaschel; sisters, Betty Knuth, Ileta Christofferson and Eunice Halverson.
Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm with a visitation from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.
Interment will follow at Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
