Doris R. Doerring, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on December 31, 1938, on the family farm in Tennyson to Oliver and Ruth (Udelhofen) Bierman. She was the third child out of six children. Doris was united in marriage to Robert Doerring on October 11, 1960, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Tennyson. Two children were born to this union, Kevin and Cathy. Doris worked alongside her husband Robert at Fireball Lanes until they retired on August 1, 2004. Doris had many accomplishments in her bowling career. She held the high series for over 30 years and the high game for about 50 years in the WIBC Lancaster Bowling League. Doris enjoyed coaching the youth bowling league, going to the casino with her friend Mary, watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Surviving are her children, Kevin Doerring and Cathy Ritter; grandchildren: Joshua Doerring, Robert (Leah) Ritter, and Eric (Lauma) Ritter; sisters: Madonna Ashbrook and Mary Jayne Menne; sister-in-law, Marlene Bierman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Oliver and Ruth Bierman, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her mother and father-in-law, Ed and Irene Doerring; brothers: Nick Bierman, Sam (Janice) Bierman, and DeWayne Bierman; sisters-in-law, LuNida (Victor) Sebastian, Marian and Rita Doerring; brothers-in-law, Frank Menne, Charles and Eugene Doerring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Steve Brunner officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
