Rose Louise Gidcumb, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her adoring family on September 8, 2025. Born on June 28, 1939, Rose's life was a tapestry of devotion to her loved ones and service to her community.
Rose's legacy is carried on by her cherished children, Ken (Michele) Gidcumb, Kirk (Crystal) Gidcumb, and Kara Childers; her loving sisters, Stella Plunkett and Donna (Ken) Rix; and her treasured grandchildren, Ryan, Tim, Kaitlin, Tiffany, Justin, Justen, William, Ninna, and Jillian. The joy of her life was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren, Lorelai, Lyana, Wesson, Dominicc, Ellie, Liam, Landon, Alex, Aiden, Bella, and Romie. Her spirit was nurtured by the companionship of her close friends, Dawn Wright and her Marlette Dollar General family. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Wilhelmina; her beloved husband, Richard; her dear daughter, Mary Ann; and her brothers, Carl and John.
Rose's professional life was marked by 12 years of service managing the Marlette Dollar General, from which she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of North Branch, where she lived her Christian values through acts of kindness and community involvement.
An avid gardener, Rose found peace and pleasure in the simple act of tending to her plants, watching them grow and flourish under her care. Her culinary skills, particularly her homemade pumpkin pie, were legendary among family and friends. Rose's kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of cooking from scratch.
Rose's life was characterized by her loving nature, her kind heart, and her delightful sense of humor. She had the rare ability to light up a room with her presence and to make everyone feel at home. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was cherished, and her love was unconditional.
Rose Louise Gidcumb will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and the many lives she touched with her generosity and spirit. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to inspire us all.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will take place 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of North Branch, where family and friends and friends may visit 1 hour prior to services.
