Rose Hochhalter, age 94, of Mandan, passed away on August 28, 2025.
A Celebration of Life for Rose will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Mandan Moose Club.
Rose was born in Carson, ND on November 19, 1930, to Roy and Rose (Emineth) Bader.
Rose raised her family and worked at George's Bakery in Mandan for over 20 years where she enjoyed cake decorating and seeing regular customers on a daily basis. She will be remembered as a very hard worker, a loving mother (even to kids who weren't her own), aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all.
She had a great sense of humor and people will remember her special laugh (hee hee!). Her last years were spent reliving the "good old days" and missing her favorite sisters, Frances and Ida. Rose was an active member of the Mandan Moose Lodge, serving with the Women of the Moose from 1972-2015.
Rose was blessed with five children: Debbie (Lee) Kraft of Bismarck, Judy Reinhardt, Kevin Hochhalter and Rod (Sherri) Hochhalter, all of Mandan, and Carla (Duane) Houle of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Sheila Kraft, Laura Kraft, Bobby Kraft, Jessica Houle, Jake Houle, Cody Hochhalter and Samantha Zehren as well as three great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hochhalter; her parents; her sisters: Betty Brodehl, Frances Kautzman, Ida Bader, Ann Leingang, Margaret Simon, Dorthy Schneider; and her brothers, Adam, Ralph, Steve, John and Floyd.
The family would like to thank all of the special caregivers at Miller Pointe and Sanford Hospice. We appreciate all that you did to keep her comfortable as she waited to be reunited with her siblings.
