Her long life was a blessing to the family that she deeply loved. She graduated from Poth High School, was a full-time mom, substitute teacher, religion teacher and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters for 68 years and was Regent of Court Anna Poth from 2001 to 2004. She also worked part time with her husband at Catholic Life Insurance. As a young girl she grew up on the family farm picking cotton, shelling corn with her seven siblings. Her favorite was obviously picking cotton. When she was 16 she met the love of her life. She had to beg her
parents to go to a dance where she met Jerome. It was love at first sight. He did join the military and they had to wait to be married until he returned. She kept the letters they wrote to each other all these years.
She was very well known for her drop dumplings and Friday night chicken pot pies before football games. As grandchildren came along, she was always there babysitting or chauffeuring when needed to countless practices, be it football, basketball, baseball, volleyball or dance. She spent a lot of times watching them do their thing and hardly missed a game. Her grandchildren always looked forward to Fridays during school when she would pick all of them up after school for her famous ham sandwiches. They always tasted better at Granny Rose'.
We would like to give special thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers that helped Rose in her later years. Maggie Jarzombek, Juanita Cantu, Margie Kneblick, the staff at New Haven Assisted Living, Prairie Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Heart to Heart Hospice Care and Gentiva Hospice Care.
Mom/Granny Rose will be forever missed.
