Rose Marie Manci, 76, of Springfield, passed away at 11:09 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Rose was born April 22, 1935 in Olyphant, PA, the daughter of Louis and Mary Isidori Manci. Rose was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, St. John's School of Nursing, Lincoln Land Community College, Sangamon State University, and then went on to earn her Master of Science in Medical-Surgical Nursing from SIU Edwardsville. She worked for St. John's Hospital as a nurse and also as an instructor for the St. John's School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was a lay-associate with the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. After her retirement she was active in the St. John's Retirees. Rose volunteered for Catholic Charities and many other organizations throughout Springfield. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings, Louis (wife, Jean) Manci, Jr. of Springfield, Anita Manci of Auburn, and Anthony "Tony" (wife, Joyce) Manci of Williamsville; one aunt, Yolanda Angeli of Blakely, PA; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Rev. Thomas Donovan, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's College, 729 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
