Rose J. Pope, 93, a life-long resident of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 15, 2026. She was born in Marion, on March 20, 1932, to Otis and Margaret Stevens. She married Bob Pope and he preceded her in death.
Rose worked for Long Optical, Pope Foundries, the Bingo Hall at the 4-H Fairgrounds, and the R.J. Basket lunchroom. She was president of the H.O.P.E. Association for 25 years.
Rose is survived by her sister, Sally Ferguson of Jonesboro; daughters, Cathy (David) Medlen of Marion and Teresa (Kevin) Detherage; grandchildren, April Medlen of Wabash, Mark (Nicole) Andrews of Knoxville, TN, Tiffany Sprong of Gas City, Heather Jett of Gas City, Tommy Bonham of Texas, Tina (Shane) Keaffaber of Marion;15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Otis and Margaret Stevens; former husband, Jake Winchell; husband, Bob Pope; brother, Paul Lloyd; daughter, Sherry Andrews; and grandson, Heath Andrews.
At Rose's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. She generously donated her body to science, giving the gift of knowledge.
