Rose M. Seaman (nee Pugliese), 100, of Summit, NJ, formerly of Jersey City, NJ, passed away peacefully, after a full and generous life, on November 9, 2025.
The daughter of Sarah (nee Nerone) and James Pugliese, she was born and raised in Jersey City, residing there until just three years ago, when she relocated to Summit, NJ. Rose proudly owned and operated Seaman Realty for over 50 years, serving the Jersey City community with dedication and care until her retirement.
A devout Catholic, Rose was a longtime devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Jersey City, where she was an active member of the Rosary Society. She was also a cherished member of the Dante Alighieri Society and UNICO where she enjoyed many friendships and community gatherings.
Above all, Rose cherished her family and hosted many family gatherings over the years. In particular, the traditional Italian Christmas Eve dinner, complete with a visit from Santa was a family favorite. Sunday dinner during the summer at Shore Acres was legendary where she often served dinner to over 30 guests. And what a cook she was! Known for her warmth and hospitality, she took great pleasure in cooking for her family and friends, bringing everyone together around her table.
She also loved travel, the theater and the beach. She visited all corners of the globe, but her favorite destination was Italy, which she visited over 25 times. Sunday afternoons often meant a quick trip on the PATH and a ticket to whichever Broadway show was offering discounted, last minute tickets. She loved the beach and spent summers at the Jersey Shore, initially in Shore Acres, and later on in Toms River, where she continued to entertain and feed all who came.
Rose was predeceased in 1969 by her beloved husband, Wesley Seaman and in 2019 by her cherished son James Seaman. She is survived by her loving children Janet Sullivan and her husband Jack, Peter Seaman and his wife Elaine, and Joseph Seaman. Rose was the proud grandmother of Thomas Sullivan and Kathleen Sullivan, and great-grandmother of Mary, Patrick, and Erin Gilligan. She was the dear sister of Vita Watson and the late Joseph Pugliese and Dominick Pugliese. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom she held close to her heart. Rose will lovingly be remembered for her faith, kindness, and devotion to her family and community.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, from 4-7 PM at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mercy Church,
40 Sullivan Drive, Jersey City, NJ, for the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday, November 13th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or St. Justin the Martyr Church in Toms River (www.stjustin.org).
