Mrs. Rose Ella Conner Smith, 88, of Greens Crossing, came to eternal peace and rest on Saturday November 15, 2025.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Glenmore Smith, who she was married to for fifty-seven years. She was born on August 4, 1937, in Richmond. She was the daughter of Roe and Nannie Mae Hall Conner, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sons: Morris "Duck" Smith and Michael Vincent Smith as well as her infant son.
Rose was proud to be one of sixteen children. Her brothers preceding her in death are: Homer, Harvey, Bob, Ben, Jimmy and Charlie Conner. Sisters preceding her in death are: Mae Edwards, Katherine Hampton, Rachel Denny, Nellie Baldwin and Louda Berry.
Rose is survived by two sons: Charles Randall Smith and Roy "Peppy" Smith. One daughter: Loretta Smith; two daughters-in-law: Teresa Smith and Kay Smith; grandchildren: Mike, Donnie Ray, Roy (Vanessa), Larry (Brittany), Ashley (Jeremy), Tommy, Roy (Chansey), Jamie (Jeremy), Katie (Justin), Dustin, Anastasia Rose, and Averi (Sebastian); great-grandchildren: Michael, Brandon, Devin, Natalie, Kayleigh, Ryder, Andrew, McKenzie S., Mason, Conner, Daylon, Jayden, Makenzie, Adalynn, Lincoln, Silas, Jewel-Lee, Olive, Abigail and Sylvian Rose. Three brothers: Raymond, Roe Jr. and Walter; one sister: Mary Hill; sisters-in-law Linda Newton and Mary Carter. As well as a host of other living relatives, friends and bingo buddies.
Rose was a generous woman who accomplished so much in her 88 years. Rose loved hard and forgave without thought. She made friends with ease and would give her last to help someone else. She was a long-time supporter of Jackpot Charity Bingo and with her ever so giving heart she became a volunteer for the American Red Cross at the age of 80, installing more than 500 smoke detectors in rural homes. She played Candy Crush for years and was proud of reaching level 1596. She loved UK Basketball and if she were not wearing Red she would most often have on a UK shirt. Rose was known for the beautiful blankets that she made by hand. She loved to travel, visiting almost every Kentucky State Park.
Most of all Rose loved her large family. In the months and weeks immediately preceding her death she was able to visit with them and spend precious time.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Johnathan Tussey, Pastor of the Peytontown Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, until the time of the funeral.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
