Rose Yadeski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Apr. 22, 2025.
Rose Ann (Riske) Yadeski, age 93, entered eternal life on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, to be joyfully reunited with her beloved husband Jim, and to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ, and Our Blessed Mother, Mary.
Rose Ann was born on January 20, 1932, to the late August and Margaret (Kauth) Riske in Spokane, WA. Besides her parents, Rose Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 65 blessed years, James M. Yadeski, brothers Jim, Vernon, Giles, Leo, and Robert Riske, and sister Marcella McElhenny.
Together, Rose Ann and Jim raised five children who loved them dearly and strive to emulate them in their own lives. She is survived by her children: James A (Sandra), Thomas (Christine), John (Ashley) Yadeski, Mary Kathryn (MKY) Dombrowski, and Karen Luman. In her role as "Grammy", Rose Ann always enjoyed the company of her grand- and great-grandchildren. How she loved to hold and adore her babies, big and small! She is also survived by her grandchildren: Loren, Evan (Kathleen), Andrew, August, Jasper, and Lilly Yadeski, Deanna Yurkovic, Lea (Christopher) O'Connell, Amanda Rose (Tyler) Dean, Victoria Rose (Rob) Aseltine, Caroline and Jake Luman, nine great-grandchildren, and four "honorary" grandchildren: Kristen (John) Klausner, Annie (Matt) Williamson, Sammy and Katie Harakal, and her oldest and dearest friend, Marlene Minzenberger.
Rose Ann loved and lived her Roman Catholic faith. She was a member of Saint George Church for over 40 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Rose Ann made Cursillo in 1965 ("Come Alive in '65!"), Divine Mercy TEC #8 (To Encounter Christ), was honored to be installed as a Lady of Saint Patrick, and to receive an award from the Serra Club for her activism in the pro-life movement. She dedicated her life to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and prayed the rosary daily, as able, even in her last days.
Rose Ann lived a life of service to others by caring for many, including her sister Marcella. "Auntie Rose Ann" helped care for her nieces and nephews as their mom's illness progressed.
That service also included advocating staunchly and lovingly for the unborn through her tireless efforts with People for Life, Erie, the PA Pro-Life Federation, and the National Right to Life.
She had a green thumb and loved "digging in the dirt"; she could make a twig or branch grow into a beautiful bush.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Fr. William Sutherland, who was Rose Ann's spiritual leader for the past six years. We are eternally grateful for his love and care for mom's (and our) spiritual needs.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, April 25, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brugger Funeral Home and Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, Erie, PA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint George Roman Catholic Church at 5145 Peach Street, Erie, PA, beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 26. Inurnment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to People for Life, Erie, P.O. Box 1126, Erie, PA 16512, or Saint George Roman Catholic Church, 5145 Peach St., Erie, PA 16509.

Dear MKY,

I am heartbroken to her of the passing of your Mom and am blessing you, uplifting you, offering you sympathy to you and asking God´s peace for you during these most difficult days.

What an incredible woman your Mother was, filled with the Spirit and the love of Jesus!

Your mother was an example of what all of us should strive for. She was a true Christian, so kind and generous and giving.

You are definitely her daughter. You are the same way. Her legacy lives through you.

You have dedicated your life to others and have touched many souls, just like your Mom.

My heart goes out to you and the family. Please know that your Mom, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

May the Lord sustain you, comfort you, embrace you.

Sending much love and many hugs.

Sincerely,

Phil Scrimenti
