Gary Goodspeed Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Mar. 19, 2026.
"Signing out one last time… WA3MPX"

Gary Cooper Goodspeed, 71, affectionately known as "Cooper," "Coop," and "Speeder", was born on July 15, 1954, a son of the late Charles Goodspeed and Ann (Turbok) Goodspeed. Gary passed away following a short battle with kidney disease at AHN Saint Vincent in Erie, PA, on March 15, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle and aunt, Clyde and Elvora Lynch; and his beloved wife, Cynthia Goodspeed.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Goodspeed Breter (Michael Breter) of Harborcreek; his son, Garrison Goodspeed (Hollianne Kaye Goodspeed) of Millcreek; four grandchildren, Makenzie Breter (fiancé Kolten Blanchard), Hanna Breter (fiancé Zander Reno), Braelynn and Grayson Goodspeed; and one great-granddaughter, Mylie Blanchard. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Goodspeed (Donna Stallone) of Tonawanda, NY; his sister, Nancy Kingston (Bill Kingston) of Conneautville, PA; his sister-in-law, Debbie Daniels of Millcreek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In his younger years, Gary-known to many as "Cooper," "Coop," and "Speeder"-was an avid salesman, working for Kirby, Dave Hallman's, Sun TV, and United Air Temp. He truly had a gift-he could light up a room and make anyone smile or laugh. Through his work and his personality, he met many wonderful people who became lifelong, dear friends.

Later in life, his greatest joy was being a devoted grandfather-proudly known as "Grandpappy Sir." He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing pool, and was a passionate ham radio operator, something that ran in the family. He also loved yard work and planting flowers, taking pride in making things beautiful.

The most important part of Gary's life was his walk with Jesus Christ. He was a faithful servant and follower of the Lord and made it his mission to share his faith with everyone he met.

Gary lived in Millcreek for the past 41 years. His family finds comfort in knowing that through their shared faith, they will one day be reunited at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 24th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, 1595 West 38th St., Erie. The funeral ceremony will be conducted there on Wednesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Dan Cass, Pastor, Greenfield Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
