Rose Anne (Skraba) Young, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Anne Young, 77, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on August 14, 2025 at University of Maryland, Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Rose Anne was born May 14, 1948 in DuBois Pa. She was the daughter of John S. and Josephine A. (Marciniak) Skraba.
Rose Anne was a 1966 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic School. She married and moved to Hagerstown, MD where she had made her home ever since. Rose Anne retired from CitiCorp after 25 years, where she was the very first employee hired by the Hagerstown location and from CASA after 7 years.
Rose Anne's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, especially her husband, son and daughter in law, brother and sister in laws, grandchildren, nephews, and countless friends who were blessed by her presence. Rose Anne was proud of her Polish heritage and loved spending time with her family, shopping, and visiting with those she loved. She enjoyed home decor, and had previously been a Home Interiors consultant. Rose Anne decorated for each holiday and especially enjoyed Halloween decorations. She enjoyed southwest decor and learning about Native Indian culture. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, making friends wherever she went. Rose Anne liked fine cuisine and trying new foods. She was a connoisseur of fashion in both clothing and jewelry. One of the things Rose Anne was probably most known for was her love of houseplants and her ability to grow and nurture unique and hard to grow varieties. Rose Anne's pride for her grandchildren and nephews was immeasurable and she loved telling everyone about all of their adventures and accomplishments.
Rose Anne is survived by her husband John Young of Hagerstown who took great care of her during her failing health. She is survived also by her son Tom Richards and his wife Tammi and her beloved grandchildren Marlee and Brady Richards.
She is also survived by her brother Dennis (Annette) Skraba and nephews Jeff (Katie) great nephews Elliot and Calvin, nephew Andrew (fiance Erin) and nephew Paul (Nicole) Skraba, all of DuBois Pa. Surviving also is sister-in-law Melissa Young of Middlesex, NJ, along with stepchildren Cara (Joe) Silvestro, step-granddaughter Kelsey (Daniel) DeAndrade, step great-grandchildren Daniel and Dylan DeAndrade as well as John (Dawn) Young and step grandchildren Parker and Cooper Young.
She is predeceased by her parents and stepdaughter Jennifer Young.
