Rose Marie Young (Platukas)
May 21, 1932 - February 20, 2026
Rose Marie Young passed away at the age of 93 years old on February 20, 2026 surrounded by
devoted family members while under hospice care. Born May 21, 1932 in Garden City,
Michigan, Rose married the love of her life the late Thomas Sim Young (2009) in 1953.
Beloved Mother of Sue Mockeridge (Mike), Sharyl Billington (the late Stuart), Michael Young
(Shelia) Jennie Chapman, Debbie Derwitz (deceased) Thomas Young, Rose Mason (the late
Vince) William Young (Kristie). Daughter to the late Alfred and Jennie (Gatavesky) Platukas.
Rose was from a large family with seven siblings, Anna,George, Alfred, Anthony, Judy, Nancy
and Alice (only surviving).
Rose was a loving and devoted Grandmother to 22 and Great-grandmother to 41.
Rose loved her family and was known to get down on the floor and play games with her
grandchildren and then later with her great grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her gentle heart, kindness and
unwavering love.
In accordance with Rose's wishes, she is being cremated and a celebration of life is to be held at a later date for
family and friends.
