Roseann Auriemma

Roseann Hazzard Auriemma, 84, of Amsterdam passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 6, 1941 she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Agnes Hazzard.

A lifelong area resident, Roseann was a 1959 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She married her high school sweetheart, John J. Auriemma Jr. in September of 1962.

Roseann started her employment, right after high school at Amsterdam Printing & Litho Company. Later, she began her 30-year career with Liberty ARC, working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She worked at three locations, Ft. Johnson, Tribes Hill and the Rt. 5s campus. She developed a strong dedication and respect for the people with whom she worked, and it was returned. Following retirement, Roseann was still remembered by these individuals she served. Some resided at the Liberty Residential Program, next door to her home. They would always ask about Roseann and enjoyed when they could have a small chat with her.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Gerald, Frank and Delores.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John; her daughter, Darlene (Joe) DiCaro of Lynbrook, NY; three grandchildren, Sarah (Joseph) LaBlanc of Staunton, VA, John DiCaro and Joseph DiCaro, of Lynbrook, NY; two great grandchildren, Theodore and Audrey; cousins and many extended family members.

The family extends thanks to Community Hospice, especially Lori Lodestro-Bell and Roseann's Angels (aides) who cared for her with compassion and love, especially Mary Lippe, Lorraine DelCostello, Pam Green, Hilda Quill, Julie Catlin and Denise Dennison. They became part of the family and gave her husband John support and respite during a difficult time.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 4:00p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. Visitation will follow beginning at 4:30p.m. until 6:00p.m. All are invited to attend.
