Obituary of RoseMarie Sodano
RoseMarie Sodano, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 87.
RoseMarie is survived by one daughter, Marie Esposito; one son, Mark Sodano and his wife Diana; two step-sons, Joeseph and William Sodano, one step-daughter Vivian D'Agostino and her husband Robert, three cherished grandchildren, Brady Sodano, Barbara Esposito and Anthony Esposito; one nephew, Bobby Coluzzi; three nieces, Dolores Alessi, Lisa Bellardine and her husband Edward Bellardine and Lora Ann Boice; one grand-niece Nicolette Alessi and two grand-nephews Nicky and Edward Bellardine several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, the late Americo and Gilda Coluzzi, Rose Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Viviano Sodano in 1988; one brother, Rober Coluzzi; and one nephew, George Coluzzi.
RoseMarie was born in South Philadelphia on July 10, 1937, where she was raised with her brother Robert. She and her husband Viviano settled in Madison after their wedding where they raised their family and she has lived for the past 52 years.
RoseMarie was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and her family was everything to her. She was a devout Catholic and had a tremendous faith. RoseMarie was an active parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church and taught CCD for many years. She lived a life of service to others, especially to children. RoseMarie served as a librarian at Torey J. Sabatini Elementary School in Madison for several years, before becoming a teacher's assistant at ECLC School in Chatham.
RoseMarie loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She had lifelong friends she made in grade school that she loved seeing. She also enjoyed writing poetry, cooking for her family and friends and going to the movies with her friend Mary. She was a strong, courageous woman overcoming every obstacle life threw at her.
RoseMarie will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She will never be forgotten, and her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Rose Marie to be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 followed by Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those who wish to attend the mass virtually may do so by visiting
Interment will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison.
