Agatha Joan Sodano

Agatha Joan (Vogler) Sodano, of Southwick, known to family and friends as Joan, died Sept. 28, 2025 at the age of 93 surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Teaneck, NJ, daughter of the late Alexius Vogler and Agatha Schmitt Vogler.

She attended Immaculate Conception School and the Mary Louis Academy, a Catholic girls' high school in Jamaica, Queens. She married Gerard J. Sodano in 1952, and the couple celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary shortly before Gerard's death earlier this year. The family lived for several years in Queens and East Northport, NY, before relocating to Longmeadow, MA, and to Westfield in 1987, where she was an active member of the Westfield Woman's Club and a communicant of St. Peter & St. Casimir Parish.

They moved once again to their retirement home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, in 1999. They returned to Wester Massachusetts in 2018, this time becoming residents of Southwick Village, formerly the American Inn, in Southwick where she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake parish.

She is survived by five children; Geana Delisle and her husband George, of Westfield; Gerard J. Sodano, Jr., of Northampton; John Sodano and his wife Sharon , of South Hadley; Paul Sodano and his wife Susan, of Bristol, NH, and Mary Joan Sodano-White and her husband David, of Huntingburg, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Koch, and a grandson, Auston White.
