Skylar Mitchell

Skylar Kristine Mitchell, 24, of Granville, Massachusetts, formerly of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with melanoma cancer. Born on May 2, 2001, Skylar was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend whose strength, humor, and kindness touched everyone she met.

Skylar's life was defined by her creativity, compassion, and determination. She loved reading, cheering for her favorite hockey teams, and watching F1 racing. Skylar also enjoyed playing cozy games, binge-watching TV shows, and surrounding herself with her favorite colors, pink and green. Her favorite flower was the dahlia, which reflected her vibrant and graceful spirit.

Even through her illness, Skylar remained strong and positive, and most people never knew she was sick. She worked hard, loved her family deeply, and found joy in the little moments of life. Her loyal dog, Phebie, was always by her side and brought her comfort throughout her journey.

She is survived by her loving mother Crystal Courtney, father Peter Zatezalo, brother Shaye Courtney, sister Shianne Cannizzaro and brother-in-law Colby Cannizzaro, and sister Caitlin Lizano, as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Skylar's legacy is one of hope, resilience, and love. These qualities will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A viewing and celebration of Skylar's life will be held on Thursday, September 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA 01077.
