Rosemary Cheryl Davis, age 77, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. Her brother, Samuel Reid, Jr., and her two sons, Marc and Jason Davis, were lovingly by her side as she transitioned to the afterlife.

Born on June 4, 1948, in West Chester, PA, Cheryl was the eldest of two children of the late Samuel Steven Reid, Sr. and the late Vivian Margarite Kinslow-Reid. She shared a lifelong bond with her brother, Samuel Steven Reid, Jr. of West Grove, PA.

A 1966 graduate of Kennett High School, Cheryl went on to pursue her calling as a caregiver, enrolling in Brown Vocational School in Wilmington, DE, where she trained to become a licensed practical nurse. She began her nursing career at Wilmington General Hospital, dedicating 15 years to the oncology floor before continuing her work at Christiana Hospital following Wilmington General’s closing. Cheryl retired after 32 years of service to the nursing profession, choosing to care for her beloved parents in their final years.

Cheryl’s life revolved around family. Her parents’ home was the heart of countless summer gatherings that built lifelong bonds among cousins, whom she affectionately considered her “sisters.” She remained in close daily and weekly contact with her family, cherishing every connection.

She was also a lifelong sports enthusiast, with a special love for track & field, football, baseball, and tennis. In high school, she played field hockey, and later, while working at Wilmington General, she found joy playing on the co-ed softball team, where her speed earned her the nickname “Rabbit.”

Her proudest role, however, was being a mother. Cheryl welcomed her first son, Marc, in 1973, and her second son, Jason, in 1980. She poured her heart into raising them with love, guidance, and unwavering support. She encouraged them to work hard, hold high standards, and above all, to be good men, husbands, and fathers. Cheryl was present for every milestone—whether it was a game, concert, or parade, she was there, cheering them on. Her devotion only deepened as she became a grandmother, delighting in her four grandchildren. If she couldn’t attend an event, she would call for detailed recaps, never missing a moment of their lives.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Vivian Reid, and her husband, Raymond Davis. She is survived by her brother, Samuel Steven Reid, Jr.; her sons, Marc Davis (Michelle) of Troy, Alabama and Jason Davis (Allison) of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Jason Jr., Braydon, Cameron, and Madalyn; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.

The Davis family extends heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support, love, and prayers during this difficult time. Though their hearts are heavy, they find comfort knowing Cheryl is at peace and will forever remain a guiding, loving presence in their lives.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cheryl’s life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Church of the Advent Chapel, 401 N. Union St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Visitation will be held from 10–11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
