Rosemary (Guza) Loppnow, age 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 20, 2024. She was born in Milwaukee to Regina and Joseph Guza on February 27, 1944, and remained in the area, attending South Milwaukee high school, before she met and married Douglas Loppnow in 1966. They moved to Franklin and then Caledonia, raising their four children Gail, Mike, Kristine, and Joe. In 1987, the love of her life, Douglas, passed away.
As a widowed mother, Rosey put her kids first. She guid their involvement in activities and sports, nurturing their interests and helping them to discover their callings. Rosey was an avid sports fan, following her children as they grew and competed. She valued the importance of building strong friendships as well as solid values. Besides her children's sports, the Green Bay Packers held a special place in her life, and there is little doubt that her cheering on football Sundays could be heard all the way to Lambeau.
After Douglas's death, Rosey supported her family by taking work at the North Cape Grocery and then Walmart in the crafts and sewing department for 15 years. She was described as a loyal and hardworking employee, a teammate who supported others and volunteered without hesitation. Kindness and sincere friendship were at the core of her life.
Besides the Packers, Rosemary loved all holidays, making these days extra special, treating her children and guests to festive celebrations. She rejoiced in the decorating and in the preparation of the meal, filling the table with appetizers, entrees, and drinks. She loved the details and the bonds formed with such a meal.
Rosey placed relationships at the top of her life's priorities, making sure that her family and friends were taken care of. Whether she was visiting or hosting, Rosey expected vigorous and kind conversations as well as a good measure of competitive card playing. Rosey lived a full life, finding joy in the simplest gifts: her family and her friends. In the end, she knew she was loved, and that she had given her love honestly. Hers was a life well lived.
Rosey is predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas; brothers Kenneth (Gerri) and Joe (Sharon); in-laws Patty Guza, Barbara Loppnow, Pete and Penny Loppnow, Richard Loppnow, Herb Hagen and Ronald Frey.
Her memory is honored by her children, Gail Esler (Dave); Mike Loppnow (Rachel), Kristine Downer (Mark), and Joe Loppnow (Jenni); her grandchildren, Katelyn, Lauren, Dane, and Karl; her brother, Jim Guza; her sisters-in-law, Linda Frey, Lorrene Hangen, Susan Loppnow; her brother-in-law, Pat Loppnow; and her nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held for the immediate family at Forest Hill Cemetery in Oak Creek, Wisconsin where Rosemary will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
