Rosetta C. Anderson, 80, of Haverstraw, NY died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in County Cavan, Ireland on January 1, 1945, to the late Philip and Mary Kate (Smith) Galligan. She was affectionately known as either Rose, Nanny, Rosaleen or Rosie to those she knew and touched.
Rose left Ireland in 1949 and settled in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from St. Pius High School in the Bronx and began her career as an administrative assistant for New York Telephone. She then met and married Richard Anderson, the love of her life, at St. Nicholas of Tolantine in 1969. They moved to Garnerville in 1973 and later Pomona in 1986. She retired in 1996 after working her way up the corporate ladder and becoming the personal secretary for the CFO of NYNEX.
Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Richard, her cherished children Kevin Anderson and Erin Taylor. She was a dear mother-in-law to Lisa Anderson and Anthony Taylor. She was blessed with four grandchildren Ronan, Riley, Ainsley and Delaney. She is predeceased by her grandsons Connor and Anthony. She was the precious sister to the late Maura White and sister-in-law to the late Kevin White, Margaret Connolly and Larry Anderson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Charles and his wife Linda. She considered all of their families to be her own. Rose was beloved by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and friends both in NY and FL. She had a special fondness for Ocean City NJ,Naples, FL, cruises and casinos. Known as the life of the party, Rose always had a camera on hand to capture and share life's special moments with her loved ones. Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her husband and her family. Her kind heart, loving spirit, compassion and joy of life will live through her family, friends and all those that she touched.
A visitation for Rose will be held on Monday, February 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923. A funeral mass will occur on Tuesday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rose's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_icid=header-btn-donate-now)
