Rosetta Carolina (Place) Gernon, age 87, a resident of Evanston, IL, passed away on February 9, 2024 at Libertyville Manor in Libertyville, IL. She was born on February 14, 1936 in Isola Rizza to Vito Moretto and Adele Lonardi. Rosetta was a member of St. Mary's in Evanston.
Rosetta is survived by her son, Michael Mario (Laura L.) Place; her daughter-in-law, Lorna Place; her grandchildren, Amber Rose Place, Christina Dawn Place, Katrina Wiegand, Brad Wiegand, and Theresa Place; her 8 great grandchildren; her siblings, Ida, Primo, and Ranato; and her family in Italy, Lorella and Patrizo, Luiesella and Giorgio, Mrzio and Grazia, Paola and Claudio, Luciana (Emilio), Luciano and Loredana, Stefania and Lucio, Lucilla, Fracfisco and Gabriella, Emanuelle, Elisa and Luigi, Piera, Cristina and Stefano, Paolo and Roberta, Alessandro, Syd Godfry, Miles Godfry, Leon Godfry and many more. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John T. Gernon; and her son, Darrell Mark Place.
A memorial service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 4:00pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 1pm until the time of service. Interment will be held privately in Italy. In lieu of flowers, please share memories of Rosetta.
