Rosie (Rose Ellen) Doore was born on June 16, 1934, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Wayne Jennings Highley and Juanita May Highley (Gates), both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lawrence Richard Doore on March 28, 1954; he preceded her in death on November 5, 1992.

Rosie is survived by her children, Daniel Richard Doore and Jodi Ann Saunders, and Jodi’s husband, Robert A. Saunders. She was a proud grandmother of Robert L. Saunders, Alex L. Saunders, Brittany L. Brooks (Doore), Brian D. Doore, and Leanne M. Doore, and a loving great grandmother to Evelyn Brooks (Doore), Rachel Saunders, Owen Saunders, and Mara Saunders.

Rosie was the last surviving child of Wayne and Juanita Highley. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings: Robert, Ella May, Charles (Chuck), Wayne, John, Sarah, and E. Louise. She is also survived by nineteen much loved nieces and nephews.

Rosie was caring and loving, and she spoke her mind when she felt something was wrong. She deeply cared for her family, close friends, and extended relatives. Her faith in God and Jesus guided her life and grounded her in purpose and compassion; she often shared her favorite Bible passages and stories with those she loved.

An avid reader, Rosie delighted in exploring new ideas and stories. She loved games—board games, card games, spirited rounds of Hand and Foot, Rummikub, and friendly sessions of bridge—and she enjoyed word puzzles, approaching each challenge with patience, curiosity, and a sharp mind. These interests reflected a life lived with intention, warmth, and a genuine appreciation for both quiet moments and shared companionship.

In lieu of services, the family welcomes donations in Rosie’s memory to one of her favorite charities - Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Private services were held.
