Ross Wilson (PeeWee) Tamplin went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 26, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1930 in Whitesboro, Texas. At the age of 16 he went to work for the City of Gainesville. He worked there for 46 years. He married Virginia Merle Crockett on May 27, 1947. He was married to her until her death in 2022. They had two children, Brenda and Cathy.
He had a car repair business on the side of fixing wrecked cars and repainting them. He helped organize the Central Baptist Church and is a charter member there. You could find him at the church in the evenings and weekends fixing things that needed to be done. He loved his church and his church family. He loved gardening and had one in his backyard every year. He loved sharing his garden with friends and family.
Ross is survived by his daughter, Brenda Gann & husband, Wayne; daughter, Cathy Leonard. Grandchildren; Heather Mercer & husband, Mike; Kevin Gann & wife, Melissa & Jeremy Leonard. Great-grandchildren; Emily, Kaitlyn, Luke Mercer and Ryder Gann. He has one living brother, Claude Tamplin.
Preceded in death by wife, Virginia Merle Tamplin; son in law, Bill Leonard; Baby Leonard; sister-in-law, Pat Tamplin; 4 brothers and 2 sisters and his parents, Ed and Rosa Lee Tamplin.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, Gainesville. Service will follow at 2:00 pm. His resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery next to his wife.
In lieu of flowers you can give to the Mission Program at Central Baptist Church, 1030 N. Morris Street, Gainesville, Texas.
