Brenda Kay Tamplin

Brenda Kay Tamplin, 75, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at 9:55 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, surrounded by family in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Van Wert, Ohio on November 7, 1949, a daughter of the late Walter Dawes Holmes and Lola Mae (Morehead) Holmes.

On July 29, 1978, Brenda married Herbert Richard Tamplin in Convoy, Ohio, and he survives, along with their two children, Zachary W. (Carla) Tamplin, and Andrea Kay (Carlo) Tamplin Moreno; two grandsons, Nathaniel Dawes Tamplin, and Theodore James Tamplin; and a brother, David Holmes.

Brenda graduated from Crestview High School in 1968 and earned her bachelor's degree from Bowling Green University in 1971. She taught Spanish and served as the librarian between 1971 and 2009, a total of 38 years. During this time, she earned her master’s degree from Wright State University. Brenda was a member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church and associated with Mill Creek Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff. Pastor Michael Mitchell will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
