Franklin- Rowland Bryan Vaughan, Jr. passed away in his home on September 25, 2025. He was the son of Rowland Bryan Vaughan, Sr. and Elizabeth Lee Kelley Vaughan and birth mother Lula Agnes Edwards Vaughan. His son, Charles Evan Vaughan and his brother Joseph Kelley Vaughan and two sons-in-law, William Dale Cornwell Sr. and Aubrey Paul Lankford Sr. preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 76 years Eugenia "Jean" Gaultress Vaughan and his devoted daughter Constance "Connie" Lankford Cornwell. "Pops" to his grandchildren: Aubrey Paul Lankford, Jr. (Terri), Jenny Lankford Owen (Tommy), William Dale Cornwell (Amber), Adam Christian Cornwell (Tonya), and his great-grandchildren; Asher John Owen, Avett Cole Lankford, William Isaiah Cornwell, Sidney Kai Cornwell, Christian Elle Cornwell, and Cheyanne Carol Cornwell. The oldest of seven children, he is survived by his sisters Katherine Vaughan McWaters (Cliff) and Melodie Vaughan Beghtol, and his brothers Reginald Thomas Vaughan, Sr. (Myrtis), Darden Wrenn Vaughan (Virginia), Jack Hart Vaughan (John),and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born in the Forks of the River area and raised in Capron, he attended Courtland High School and served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Starting as a pipefitter, he retired after forty-three years as Superintendent of Mechanical Maintenance for Union Camp Corporation. A faithful member of the American Legion and Hunterdale Christian Church, Rowland's service to his community was an important part of his life.

A funeral service will be held at Wright Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. Reception will follow at Hunterdale Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, help a neighbor or a friend as Rowland would have done. Do a good deed in his memory.
