Roy passed away peacefully at the age of 81, June 28th 2025 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 5, 1943, in Arkansas, to Eula and Wesley Barrett. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 47 years Lori Barrett, his daughter Jennifer Peppers (Dusty), stepson David Hudson, 3 estranged children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and three sisters Joyce Nordberg, Wanda Collins and Gladys Meyers.
He moved to Tieton, WA when he was 4 years old and graduated from Highland High School in 1962. Roy worked as a welder and his last 24 years at Irwin Research and Development. He played lead guitar in the valley for 62 years in multiple bands. His last 25 years playing music with Cimmeron. He loved the Lord, fishing, camping, yard work and spending time with his family and friends. Roy spent his last 11 years battling Alzheimer's and continued to play in the band up until December 2023. Roy was honest, righteous, humble, kind and had a smile that could light up any room.
Celebration of life will be July 12th, 2025 at 11am at West Valley Missionary Church, 11107 Wide Hollow Rd., Yakima 98908. Reception to follow starting at 4pm at the American Legion Post 36, 1120 N. 34th Ave., Yakima 98902.
