Graveside service for Roy Basham, 91, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 14, 2024 in Rosehill Cemetery with Chaplain Eddy Carrell officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the funeral home.
Roy passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Cleburne. He was born December 16, 1932 in Cleburne to Roy Ruben, Sr. and Lestel Delma (Davis) Basham. Roy married Betty Lorene Massingale on December 26, 1969 in Cleburne. He worked as a Supervisor in furniture manufacturing and had a strong work ethic. Roy never missed a day of work due to sickness. He believed what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong. Roy was a private pilot and loved to fly. He also enjoyed being an amateur HAM radio operator WA5BTI. Roy liked to restore tube type radios and televisions. He liked motorcycles and loved to watch old westerns such as Bonanza, and Gun Smoke. Roy loved to tell stories and could remember every detail. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff Basham and wife, Trish, Steve Basham and wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Alan Basham, Kaylee Basham, Abigail Basham, and Kaysie Basham; great-grandchildren, Connor Basham, Lillian Basham, Roman Shepard, and Vivien Shepard; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Basham and parents, Roy and Lestel Basham.
