Roy Boswell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home - El Dorado Springs on Dec. 24, 2025.
Roy Douglas Boswell, age 83, of rural El Dorado Springs, passed away at Cox South Hospital in Springfield Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025. Roy was born on June 29, 1942, in Waverly, MO, The son of Grover Franklin Boswell and Florence Sedal Hemme. He completed his high school education while in the Marine Corps.
Roy met Ruby Coleen Bishop when he was at boot camp at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA. They married on November 1, 1963, in Ontario, CA. While living in California they had three sons. In 1968, they moved to Verden, OK, and had one daughter.
Roy worked in construction and in the oil fields while in California and continued working in the oilfield on a drilling rig when he moved to Verden. He eventually started hauling hay. He got up to three hay trucks. Roy and Coleen hired young men that were in high school to help haul hay. He became a strong role model for these young men by teaching them work ethics and about life. He had a good time having fun with them. He really enjoyed working.
Roy and Coleen moved to El Dorado Springs in 1993. Here he raised registered Gelbvieh cattle. In his free time, he loved to bowl and entered the Bowling Hall of Fame. He gave back to the community by serving on the Virgil Township. If anybody needed help with anything, Roy would stop everything he was doing to help them.
Preceding Roy in death were his wife: Ruby Coleen Boswell; his parents: Grover and Florence Boswell; and two brothers: Ron Dickerson, and Russell Boswell. He is survived by his sons: Doug Boswell, Steven Boswell, and Frank Boswell; daughter, Pamela Lovelace; brothers: Edward Day, Ricky Day, Roy Lee Algiam, and Brian Keith Escalora; sisters: Juanita Pryor, Vera Tennill, Shirley Reedy, June Struzick, Phyllis Rodgers, Bunnie Riedel, Debra Bohannon, and Melissa Cogdell; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
