Roy Reece Bradley, Sr., age 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones. Roy was saved at a young age at Pilgrim's Rest Primitive Baptist Church. He later joined Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was a member for 75 years. Roy was a sports coach for 46 years and was a die hard TN Vols fan. He was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhartt Sr. He was a well known painter and carpenter for over 50 years. He was best known as Santa Claus to very many people. After retiring from painting, he was a Walmart door greeter for 15 years. He was an active member of the Overton Lodge No.5 since November 26, 1988. Roy went on several mission trips with the Holston Valley Baptist Association. One of his favorite hobbies included Civil War reenactments. Roy's smile could light up any room. He touched many hearts with his kind spirit. He was a loved member of the community and will be very missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Bradley; beloved wife of 43 years, Susan Bradley; granddaughter, Rebecca Rogers Cole; brothers, Tommy and Lester Bradley; sister, Bernice Bailey.
Left to cherish his memory, daughters, Linda Lowe (Les), Darlene Huckaby (Paul), Sherry Lawson, Sheila Meece (Bill), Anne Bradley, Deborah Lawson (Travis); sons, Jerry Bradley (Elizabeth), Roy Reece Bradley Jr., Andrew Nase (Jo); multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Shirley (Leonard), Junior Bradley, Glen Bradley, Dena Dunnington (Mike); several nieces, nephews, a host of friends; special cousin, Virginia Coleand; and special friend, Margaret, next door.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and for everyone's generosity towards the family.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27 from 5-7pm at Maple Hill Baptist Church located at 946 W. Poor Valley Rd. Rogersville, TN 37857. Masonic funeral rites will be preformed by
Overton Lodge No. 5 F & A.M. prior to the funeral service. Funeral Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 28 at 2pm at Maple Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Bradley, Rev. Scott Bradley, Rev. Sonny Davis, and Rev. Bill Meece officiating. Burial will follow in Dean Cemetery on Poor Valley Rd. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.christiansells.com
