Roy Burton, 78, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Resorts at Pooler. Roy was born on December 20, 1945, in Augusta Georgia and lived in Effingham County for a number of years.
Roy will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends. He cherished moments spent with his loved ones, especially his best friend and wife of 61 years, Freida. Their bond was a shining example of love and companionship. Among his many interests, one of Roy's favorite pastimes was playing the drums and volunteering for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Garden City. He was a member of Roger Lacey Lodge # 722, F. & A. M’s, and Alee Temple.
Roy leaves behind his loving wife, Freida Burton; son, Richard “Greg” (Jo-Lee) of Springfield; daughter, Kim Stewart (Brian) of Pooler; grandchildren, Clay Manning of Pooler, Brianna Stewart of Pooler, Andrew Burton of Rincon and Mollee Ziel (Caleb) of North Carolina; and great grandson, Ryder.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Resorts at Pooler and Hospice Savannah for the wonderful care they gave to Mr. Roy.
Services will be private.
