Roy Carter, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on May 23, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on March 26, 1973, in Oklahoma to L.D. Carter and Mary (Burgon) Carter, Roy was raised and educated in Guymon, Oklahoma where he formed lifelong bonds with family and friends.
A man of many passions, Roy found joy in the roaring riffs of 80s and 90s heavy metal, with bands like The Misfits, Slayer, and Overkill fueling his love for music. Yet, beneath his tough exterior beat the heart of a devoted Christian, who at times worshipped at the Baptist Church, seeking solace and strength in his faith.
Roy was a skilled licensed electrician, respected for his work ethic and willingness to help others. He cherished simple pleasures-long walks, deep conversations, and meeting new people. Known for his wisdom and kindness, Roy was always there to listen, offering guidance with a steady voice and a compassionate spirit.
Above all, Roy was immensely proud of his son, Tepesh Carter. He treasured every moment with him and beamed with pride when Tepesh became a Marine, embodying the courage and dedication Roy so deeply admired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. Carter and Mary (Burgon) Carter.
Roy is survived by his son, Tepesh Carter; a daughter, Hayleigh Carter; a wife, Silvia Carter; his brothers, Luther Carter, Tim Carter, and David Carter; his sister, Carol Royse; and countless friends who will forever remember his generosity, humor, and unwavering loyalty.
The Carter family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Though Roy's voice is now silent, his music, his laughter, and his love will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
