Roy Lester Chew Sr. passed away Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 71.
Roy was born September 18, 1954 in Nacogdoches, Texas to B.R. and Martha Fitzgerald then was adopted by Dual Chew and Laver Chew at the age of 2 years old. He attended high school in Texas and later received his GED. Roy proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era from 1973-1980. He married Betty Lois Williams on July 1st, 2020 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Roy was a Bull Hauler in the transportation industry for many years. He rode bulls in his younger years and loved fishing at Red River. Roy enjoyed farming, ranching, gardening, outdoors and rodeos.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his wife Betty Chew of the home, children; Christina Kelley of Holdenville, Roy Chew Jr. and wife Brandi of Sulphur, Carl Keith Chew and wife Angela of Duncan, Yvonne Salman of Germany, grandchildren; Logan Kelley, Cassy Kelley, Jordan, Pacen, Jade, Cadyn, Skye, brother B.A. Fitzgerald and wife Kathy of Hemphill, Texas, sister Evelyn King of Wells, Texas, brother-in-law Billy Williams of Shawnee, sister-in-law Beth Schutte and husband Sandy of Ada, brother-in-law Jimmy Williams and wife Sheryl of Lamar, sister-in-law Mary Bartley of Holdenville. Roy is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends and his friends, who he considered as family, at Ada's Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Holdenville Livestock Auction and The Maud Action.
Pallbearers are Jeffery Carpitcher, Logan Kelley, Jimmy Williams, Jack Goodson, Paul Camp and Butch Skipworth. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Roberts, Billy Moss Jr. and Sandy Schutte.
Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18th and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 19th at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville with Pastor Marla Chesser officiating with Pastor Dane Robinson assisting.
Interment will follow at Lamar Cemetery.
Services are under the care of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
