Roy Everett Dahl, age 62, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the University of Michigan, Sparrow Campus. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

Born on January 27, 1963, in the historic city of Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the beloved son of Roy Thomas and Mary Forsyth (Rennie) Dahl. Roy's journey began in the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, but he spent his formative years in the close-knit community of Corunna, where he graduated before embarking on a path of service.

In 1984, Roy entered the United States Air Force with a strong sense of duty and devotion to his country. His commitment to excellence was evident as he served as a firefighter for more than five and a half years, earning numerous accolades including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, the NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, the Air Force Training Ribbon, and several other honors for his distinguished service.

After his honorable discharge, Roy continued to apply his skills and work ethic to his civilian life. He became a respected member of the Shiawassee County Dog and Gun Club and the Construction Union Local 499. His love for his Scottish heritage shone brightly as he proudly played the drums for the Scottish Highland Band of Flint, delighting many with his musical talents at various events. Roy's professional life was as diverse as his interests; he worked on projects ranging from roofing homes to building bridges, and was a dedicated employee of SL&H Construction for a period.

Roy's passions extended beyond his professional and service endeavors. He was a devoted fan of IndyCar Series and reveled in the beauty of nature, often found taking long walks in McCurdy Park. Above all, Roy's greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Dahl; his children, Brittany (Justin) Albritton and Amber (Joe Gober) Dahl; his cherished grandchildren, Jayden Dahl, Brooke Albritton, and Ariella Gober; and his siblings, Janice Dahl and Brad (Janet) Dahl. His father, Roy Thomas Dahl, preceded him in death.

Those who knew Roy will remember him as a man who could fix anything-a true handyman with an endlessly creative mind. Roy Everett Dahl lived a life of honor, creativity, and kindness, which will not be forgotten.
