Marie Ann Roy, age 51, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at McLaren Greater Lansing. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St., Perry, MI 48872. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Born on December 22, 1973, in Lansing, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Michael and Joann (Getzen) Shaffer. Marie grew up alongside her sister, best friend and sometimes teenage rival Amy. She attended Perry Public Schools, graduating in 1993, a place where she met her soulmate and future husband, Kenneth Roy. They vowed to stand by each other through every season of life on March 14, 1998.

Marie is survived by her devoted husband, Ken; children, Anthony Bateman, Dahlia (Jon Coleman) Roy, and Rylee Roy; her loving parents, Michael and Joann Shaffer; her dear sister, Amy (Jeremy) Sloan, father-in-law Bill Roy; and her brothers-in-law, David Roy and Kevin (Sarah) Snyder. Her life was further enriched by her adored nieces and nephews, Sebastian (Hannah) Sloan, Sammantha (Deven) Stone, Julie (Nicholas) Anderson, and Jacqueline Sloan; and her treasured great-nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Aunt Ree: Owen, Wade, Everett, Piper, Juniper, Addie, Liam, Levi, Penelope, and Colton. Her best friend, Tammy Tickner, stood by her side through thick and thin, a testament to Marie's capacity for enduring friendships.

Marie served as a manager at Swan Creek Candle in Perry, where she supported community members through both their joyous celebrations and times of grief. Her work was not just a job; it was a calling that she embraced with enthusiasm and love.

Her faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her existence. Marie's commitment to her community and her family was unparalleled. She raised her children with a servant's heart and generous spirit, teaching them the value of service and the power of love. To many, she was "Fun Marie," a woman whose infectious spirit and warmth touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Marie loved, adored, and spoiled her children. Anthony, her firstborn, whom she loved to call NeNe, and her daughters Dahlia and Rylee who were her sweet baby girls. Her children were her absolute world, as she was to them. Marie also shared a special bond with her sister, Amy, who knew her heart as only a sister could, and her best friend, Tammy, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. Marie's love language was gift giving and shopping! She also found joy in the simple pleasure of camping with family and fishing with Ken, moments that both treasured deeply.

Those who knew Marie will forever remember her as loving, kind, and friendly. Her radiant smile, acceptance, and fun faces made her a friend to all, and her absence will be deeply felt by the many lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeremy and Jessie; her maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Dorothy Getzen; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Roberta Goff; stepmother-in-law, Barb Roy; and grandparents-in-law, Don and Fran Hagerman, and Warren and Mary Sadler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children's Research at stjude.org.
