Roy Dahl, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in his home.
Roy Dennis Dahl was born on August 1, 1959, the son of Leonard and Florence (Franklin) Dahl in Garrison, North Dakota. He was raised on a farm near Roseglen, ND - where he got himself into all kinds of mischief - from dirt bikes, to BB guns, to dynamite. He had a large variety of jobs - working as a radio DJ, a roughneck, an HVAC technician, an airplane mechanic, and more. But people may know him best from his time at Ryan Chevrolet and Magic City Harley Davidson.
Roy Dahl met Julie Quigley while they worked together at I. Keating and they were later married on May 2, 1985, spending 40 loving and adventurous years together - often getting under each other's skin in the best way possible. He was a loving and devoted father to Chris and Bailey, always encouraging them to embrace life.
Roy was involved in Boy Scouts with Chris, leading him to lifelong friendships with leaders and other parents. He loved to immerse himself in music and nature - and especially enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle, Pearl. Many fond memories were made while camping with family and friends. He passed on his creative eye for photography to both of his children and grandson, often going on family drives to explore and find beauty in the world around us. He had immense pride in his grandson, Logan, who is like Roy in so many ways.
Roy felt very connected to his Sámi and Scandinavian heritage, always finding more to learn. His sense of humor was unforgettable, always bringing joy - even in the hardest of times. He offered the best advice, help with projects, and was always able to find the right words to say - showing others how much they meant to him. Through recent trials with his wife's and his own health, he constantly went the extra mile to ensure she got all the care she needed and knew how deeply he loved her. In true Roy fashion, he was continually trying to prepare us for this time, including making a "Gone Info" book.
He was our rock, our light in the dark, our everything.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Julie Dahl; son, Chris (Charlotte) Dahl; grandson, Logan Dahl; daughter, Bailey (Corey) Schrader; mother, Florence Dahl; sisters, Gina (Monty) Schenfisch and Penny (Keven) Dahl; mother-in-law, Shirley Quigley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Coyne (Karen) Quigley, Del (Janet) Quigley, Sandy Mattern, Bryan (Jean) Quigley, Fred Quigley, Dorothy Newman, and Cheryl Black; grandson's mother, Alisa Varecka; honorary daughter, Mikayla Johnson; grandcats Jax, Oliver, Spark, Edalyn, and Lincoln Towncar; along with many family, friends, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Dahl; father-in-law, Delbert "Red" Quigley; a dear friend, Joe Cresswell; brother-in-law, Orlando "Todd" Newman; and cherished pets including his best buddy Harley, as well as Josie, Taz, Bugsie, Taco, and Bandit.
