Roy Dietzel Obituary
COLONIE - Roy E. Dietzel, 64, husband of the late Barbara L. Dietzel of Colonie, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital with family by his side.
Born May 24, 1960, in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of the late Paul and Gwendolyn Dietzel.
Roy attended Colonie High School and graduated in 1979. In 1981, he graduated from Hudson Valley Community College. For 34 years, he worked for the New York State Canal system as a machinist, where he retired in April 2015. Roy dedicated most of his adult life running his nursery business. Roy loved spending time Truck pulling for the New York Tractor Pullers Association. He enjoyed hunting and camping with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Jonathan, Michael, and Melissa Dietzel; daughters-in-law, Jaime and Ashleigh; granddaughters, Mckenna, Harper, and Lillian; and soon-to-be grandson, Michael Jr.
Roy is reunited in his passing with his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara. In addition, to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his sister, Beverly; and brother, Ernie; along with other close family and truck pulling friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, N.Y. 12205. A Graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Albany, N.Y. 12205.
