Roy Gary was born in Halifax, NC to the late Katie May Gary and Robert Crowell on September 1, 1941.
He was educated in the Halifax county public schools. He left farming in NC for a better life in Newport news to work for the city of Hampton parks department. He enjoyed poker, hunting and fishing. Roy retired from the city of Hampton and continued to work helping others driving a bus for seniors. He came down with dementia in 2020 to which he moved to Maryland to live with his daughter until he passed.
