Roy O Green, 78, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, Maine. The son of Oscar and Doris (Cyr) Green, Roy was born on March 12, 1944.

Roy grew up in Caribou, Maine and graduated from Caribou High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Lucinda (Jeannie) Chapman and raised three children, Beth, Jeffrey and Mitchell. Roy served proudly in the Army and was stationed in the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. After leaving the military, Roy worked for Maine Public Service for several years and graduated from Ricker College and the University of Maine. Upon completion of his degrees, Roy accepted a job with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Maine as the Human Resources Coordinator where he worked for many years and helped hundreds of families and people throughout Aroostook County.

Roy was very involved in his community throughout the years. He was a volunteer firefighter, a coach for little league and served numerous terms for the Caribou School Board. He also worked part-time for Mockler Funeral Home as a driver and usher.

Eager to expand his work experience, he accepted a job with the United States Department of Defense as the director of Family Support and Services.

Roy loved his job with the government, and it allowed he and Jeannie to travel the world and tour many beautiful cities and countries throughout Europe. Many family members were able to visit Roy and Jeannie in Germany, and they were the perfect tour guides and hosts. Upon his return from Europe, he transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where he and Jeannie built a home and fell in love with the state. After Alaska, Roy transferred to western Massachusetts where he continued his work with the military's Family Support Center. It's in Massachusetts where he retired from his civil service job.

Roy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and canoeing. He loved being surrounded by his family, and the sun rose and set on his grandchildren. Roy is predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Doris, the love of his life, Jeannie, his daughter Beth and sisters Betty and Linda. Roy is survived by his sisters, Nancy from Florida and Jean from California and a brother, Philip from Massachusetts; his sons Jeffrey and husband, Michael, from Scarborough, Maine and Mitchell and wife Sheila from Caribou, Maine; grandsons, Josh Lapointe and his wife Alisa from Ellsworth, Maine, Dustin and his wife Lauren from Stockholm, Maine; granddaughters, Andrea and her husband Mike from Texas and Kayla from New Hampshire and his great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Austin, Isaac and Isabelle. Roy had a wonderful connection to all of his grand-dogs as well, all seven of them!

A graveside service will be scheduled for early summer.

To Jeannie and entire family,

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I was lucky enough to work with Roy from approximately 1997-2001. He was my immediate supervisor in the Family Support world while I wore the uniform and hired me as a civilian in 1999. He was responsible for "launching" many programs involving deploying and repatriating our military personnel. He cared deeply for the spouse programs (some which we piloted in Alaska). Our base benefited from his prior experience with crisis action teams and he led the charge on training and initiating these teams on the base. The world seemed to be in turmoil but he always looked for ways to make it better for the families left behind. He didn't put himself first, he put others first.

Which leads me to...his family. I will always remember his face lighting up as he talked about his family. That is what truly made him happy.

Prayer for all of you. Jena Bienia
