Roy Junior Johnson, age 79 of Ten Mile, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 9th, 2025. Roy grew up in Claiborne County, where he was raised in church and became a Christian of the Baptist faith. Roy spent most of his life farming, and even when he couldn’t physically get out on his farm, he enjoyed sitting on his back porch watching over it. When he wasn’t watching over the farm, his favorite thing to watch was his westerns on TV.
Roy was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Ruth Johnson; wife, Nancy Johnson; Sons, Robert Martin and Sammy Lynn Johnson; Brother, Roger Johnson; Roy was also preceded in death by just a few minutes by his famous sidekick and companion, his dog Amos.
Roy is survived by children, Teresa Tuttle (Ronnie), William Bo Carroll (Roz), Carolyn Johnson, James Johnson (Connie), John Johnson (Tonya), special “adopted” son, Jason Abner (Kristen); Grandchildren, Jeremy (Brittney) Tuttle, Sarah Yearwood, Ben Carroll, Josh Carroll, Colt Johnson, Martin Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Cassie (Scotty) Kirkland, Bianca, Chanelle, and Savannah; Great-grandchildren, Mahala Tuttle, Courtney, Luke, Elizabeth, and Aubrey Yearwood, Jackson, Christian, Harmony, and Alex, Bentley, Grace, and Mason Carroll, Harper and Mason Kirkland; Brothers, Ray Johnson (Juanita), Rufus Johnson; Sister, Rosie Denton; Roy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 from 12-2 PM in the chapel of Loudon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Michael Strickland and Rev. Robert Blankenship officiating. The graveside service will follow immediately after at Midway Church of God Cemetery.
