Roy Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maupin Funeral Home - Fulton on Feb. 5, 2026.
Roy Dean Jones, 78, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away on February 4, 2026, at Harry S. Truman Veterans' Memorial Hospital, surrounded by those he loved.

Roy was born on September 4, 1947, to the late Floyd L. Jones and Nellie M. (Reynolds) Jones.

He was united in marriage to Janice (Hicks) Jones, who preceded him in death in 2004.

Roy proudly served his country after enlisting in the United States Army in 1966, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver.

He had a deep love for animals, especially his horse, Half Pint, and truly just enjoyed life. Roy cherished time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He had a way with words and a sense of humor that made his stories unforgettable-whether they were entirely true or just close enough. Known for his wisdom and straightforward outlook on life, his favorite saying was, "Don't let people figure you out, or they will take advantage of you."

Roy will be remembered for his quick wit, and love for family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roy is survived by his son, Roy Jones Jr.; daughter, Nichol Hall (Neal); brother, Richard Jones (Mary); sister, Francis Smith; grandchildren, K. Neal Hall, Kelsey Morris (Cameron), Holden Brondel; great grandchildren, Maddox Hall, Skylar Hall, Odin Morris, Jace Brondel, Bryce Brondel, and many more loved ones and friends.

He was preceded in death by, his wife Janice, daughters, Annette Jones, Tammy Hall, brother, Charles Jones, grandchildren, Kassandra Brondel, Dalton Brondel, and brother-in-law, Jim Smith.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
