KEY, Mr. Roy Eugene - Age 78, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Elder Michael Hairston officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Key will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Mr. Roy Eugene Key Sr. was born February 12, 1945 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Calvin and Inell Key. Roy was a resident of Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Community Schools. He retired from General Motors Corporation after 31 years of service. Roy loved playing cards, Dominoes, fishing and cooking. He especially loved his macaroni and cheese, and his lemon and vanilla cake. Roy was always there for you when you needed him. He would say no and then he would do whatever was asked of him. Roy was of a funny character. He loved having fun and was a nice generous guy. Roy would give you the shirt off his back after he grouched at you.
Mr. Roy Eugene Key Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Elaine Key of Flint; 2 daughters, Tyanne (Julius) Williams and Veniere (Eric) Winston; sons, Roy "Booper" Key Jr. and step-son, Donald "Rocky" Hamlin; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Scarlett Key of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; uncle, Melvin Gryme; 3 sisters-in-law, Demetrius Morrison, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Bransford, all of Flint and Elois Hamlin of Houston, TX; 3 brothers-in-law, Gregory (Joanne) Hamlin of Flint, Steve Hamlin and David Hamlin, both of Texas; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Shirley Calderon, Melvin and Jean Summers.
Mr. Key was preceded in death by his grandson, Deandre Williams; parents, Calvin and Inell Key; brothers, Adrian Key, Larry Holland, Charles Holland and Jerry Nelson; sisters, Mary Ann Jackson, Susie Hardy and Eddie Larue Key; nephews, Samuel Jackson, Adrian Key Jr. and Derrick Holland; and niece, Amyre Aikens.

Truly gona miss my uncle. He was full of life and could talk smack with the best of them. Ive always enjoyed him and my other uncles playing dominoes & cards they kept us laughing.
