Roy William Kilpatrick
September 15, 1954 - November 16, 2024
Roy Kilpatrick, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Born in 1954 to Thomas Eugene Kilpatrick and Wilma Gene Kilpatrick, Roy was raised with a strong sense of duty and work ethic. He was the cherished brother of Thomas Eugene Kilpatrick, Jr. and Michael Samuel Kilpatrick (deceased).
Roy married the love of his life and best friend, Marinel (Annie) Kilpatrick, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years together. Though they were opposites in many ways-Roy loved country music while Marinel preferred jazz, a contrast that sparked many laughs-their differences only strengthened their bond. Together, they built a life full of love, humor, and faith.
A devoted father, Roy adored his children, Kara Marie Howard (Jason Howard), Matthew Kilpatrick, and Michael Kilpatrick (Anna Kilpatrick). He was also a proud and doting grandfather to Selah, Caleb, and Eternity, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Roy had a lifelong passion for sports, from playing football, baseball, soccer, and golf to cheering on his favorite teams. While he was once a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, his move to Kansas City led him to become an enthusiastic supporter of the Chiefs. One of his favorite pastimes was smoking a My Father Connecticut cigar with his son Michael, enjoying both the conversation and the bond they shared.
Roy was a creative soul, using his hands to craft beautiful works from metal and wood. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him. Above all, he had a deep love for discussing the sovereignty of God, often sharing his thoughts over a good cigar with friends and family.
In recent years, Roy moved his family from California to Kansas City, soon feeling the Lord lead him to Faith Community Church, a community he deeply loved.
Roy's love for his wife, Marinel, was evident to all who knew him. He was fiercely protective of her and treasured the life they built together. But above all, Roy's greatest love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In his final years, Roy dedicated himself fully to his faith, using his cancer journey as an opportunity to evangelize. He approached radiation and chemotherapy with purpose, praying with fellow patients and sharing the love of Christ with nurses and caregivers alike. Despite the challenges he faced, Roy never wavered in his faith or questioned God's plan for his life.
Roy Kilpatrick will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his generous heart, and his deep love for his family and friends. His legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to a Christian school in the Philippines that serves underprivileged children. If you would like to contribute, make your check out to Faith Community Church and write Christianhood Learning Center on the memo line.
Please help celebrate the life of Roy by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
