Richard Allen Shandy

Richard Allen Shandy, 46, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on October 12, 1979, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Richard left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Ricky was a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, roles he cherished more than he ever let on. He wore his heart on his sleeve. If he loved you, you knew it. If he was worried about you, it showed. And if he was proud of you, which he often was, he made sure you felt it. Life didn't always come easy to him, but Ricky faced every challenge with grit and determination. He fought proudly and fiercely every single day.

Known affectionately as "Uncle Buck," Richard had a personality that filled every room he entered. He was ornery in the best way-sharp-witted with a sense of humor that could make you roll your eyes one moment and laugh until you cried the next. His stubborn streak was matched only by his deep well of kindness and compassion. Beneath his tough exterior lived a man who cared deeply for those around him and never hesitated to show up when it mattered most.

He found joy in the simple things-hunting trips at dawn, casting a line into quiet waters-and these moments reflected his love for nature and the peace it brought him. But more than anything else, Richard found purpose in being there for his family.

He is survived by his parents, Richard L. Shandy and Darla K. Shandy; his daughter, Kylie Snelling; his favorite sister, Sharla Shandy; niece, Marla King; and nephew, Brody Shandy. Each of them carries memories of Ricky's unwavering support: taking his mother hunting for the first time; helping Brody get ready for his first high school dance; sharing morning coffee with Marla since she was two years old; proudly being Sharla's biggest fan and fiercest protector; swapping stories about nights at the farm with his dad; and above all else, being a proud father to Kylie-a role that meant everything to him.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Marjorie Shandy and Arla Allison, and grandfathers, Glen Shandy and Rudy Lamkin.

His absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled-but also a legacy that will never fade. Those who knew him will remember his big smile, his loyalty without limits, and the way he loved with everything he had.

He is deeply missed and forever loved.
