Roy Kenny Koenitzer, 60, of Midland, passed away at his home April 28, 2025. He was born October 23, 1964 in Saginaw, son of the late Clarence Koenitzer and Shirley (Bell) Koenitzer. Roy grew up in Bridgeport and attended Saginaw Schools. A few years after he was finished with school, Roy joined the United States Navy. He went through his basic training in San Diego, CA before being enrolled in the Naval Submarine School in Groton, CT. After serving for six years, he was honorably discharged. Roy entered into the civilian work force with several different jobs through the years before he began his career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. During this time, he joined the Army National Guard, serving two different tours in Iraq. Upon his second honorable discharge from the military, Roy resumed his position with the post office, recently retiring in 2024. While he truly thrived during his time in the military, Roy also enjoyed letting loose and having a good time. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars. If space permitted, Roy would have had several hobby cars to work on just because he could. He was a true lover of animals, helping numerous strays through the years. Roy was also a great storyteller. He loved to reminisce about his wild youth and all the fun he had. Roy lived life on his own terms and made sure to have a good time along the way.
He is survived by his children, Skylar (Natalie) Koenitzer, Shelbie Koenitzer, and Dustin Holloway; siblings, Laureen Krukowski, Steven (Sharon) Koenitzer, and Wendy (Tim) Knack; as well as his four-legged grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his previous wife and mother of his two children, Renee Bowers Koenitzer.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled. Roy's ashes will be interred in Great Lakes National Cemetery where he can rest easy with his fellow Veterans. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider any Veterans organization of their choosing or the Humane Society of Midland County.
All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Koenitzer family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
