Roy L. Mackie, 92, of Billings, MO, peacefully left his temporary home to be with his Lord and Savior in his Heavenly home on July 14, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Roy was the son of George and Vada (Prock) Mackie. He was born on May 04, 1933, in Grove Springs, MO, where he, his two brothers and two sisters were raised.

He married the love of his life, Lovena Griffin, on December 19, 1953. This union was blessed with two daughters, Sherry and Cynthia. Roy began working at the age of 14 and was able to do what he had always dreamed of doing when he went to work driving a truck for Producers Creamery in 1950. On August 24, 1953, Roy enlisted in the US Army, and following basic training, he was sent overseas to Germany. Roy served his country until June 04, 1955, when he was honorably discharged. He returned home and continued working for Producers Creamery. In 1957, he went to work driving for Dairy Land in Springfield. Then, in 1965, Roy relocated to Baxter Springs, KS, where he began to drive for Yellow Freight and did so until his retirement in 1996. Roy took immense pride in his job, was accident free in 39 years of driving trucks and received many awards during his time at Yellow Freight.

While in Baxter Springs, Roy and Lovena raised their girls and made many life-long friends with whom they often traveled, camped and played cards with. Roy's orneriness, and mischievous charm made him unforgettable, but it was his big heart that truly defined him. Roy never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Most of all, he loved his family fiercely.

Roy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at

Parks Creek in Grove Springs, MO, by Rev. Jordan Bogart. Roy attended Brookline Baptist Church for many years and recently began attending Clever First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Vada; his loving wife, Lovena; daughter, Sherry Mackie; sister, Marie Massey, and brother, Irvin Mackie.

Roy is survived by his daughter Cynthia Doran and husband Randall;

grandchildren Gregory Ransom (Carrie), Brooke Thompson, Craig Imbeau, Brigett Walker (Chris), Cristy Trent (Travis), Casey Counts (Brandon), and Chad Doran (Jamie); 17 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; sister, Olive Mace; brother, Loren Mackie and his wife Sue; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at

Meadors Funeral Home in Republic, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11a.m., and Roy will be laid to rest in Lindsey Cemetery, Republic, MO,

beside his wife and daughter.
