Roy Dale Merrill, 59, of Orrville, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on January 16, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Bedford, Ohio on November 9, 1966 to the late Roy and Bessie {Carpenter} Merrill, and was raised in Northfield.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brother Ken Merrill, brothers-in-law John and Joe Lee.
On May 19, 1995 he married Shannon Renee {Lee} Merrill. She survives, along with their children Steven (Danielle) Snowberger, Aryk (Rochelle) Snowberger, Trystin Merrill; grandchildren Londyn, Jaydyn, Cali, Aryk Jr., Baylee and Riley Snowberger; brother Rick Merrill; sisters Joyce Merrill and Anna (John) Otto; mother-in-law Sharon Rigby; brother-in-law Jim (Becky) Lee; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Roy was a friend to everyone, well-liked, patient and respected by those who love him. That patience came in handy, as Roy's favorite place to be was with a fishing pole in his hand. He loved being outdoors, camping, enjoying and feeding the wildlife. Roy was occasionally found indoors, building models, 3D puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren.
