The Life and Legacy of Bishop Roy Lee Stevens, Sr.
In the quaint city of Gomez, Florida, as time transitioned between July 3rd and July 4th, in the year 1949, the late, Prince and Annie Bell (Jones) Stevens welcomed their first child. They named this bouncing baby boy, Roy Lee. Roy's formative years were spent matriculating through the Martin County Public School district. He received his High School Diploma in June 1967 from Murray High School (Gomez, Florida). It was while in High School that he became one of the first African- Americans to be employed by the Winn-Dixie Co. in the 60s in Martin County.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon on July 14, 1968, when Roy was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Laura Stevens nee Saunders. To this beautiful union, four children were born, Gwendolyn, Roy Jr., Jeanice, (predeceased) and Theodora.
Roy worked for over twenty-five years as a caretaker for the Johnson Estate (Jupiter Island) and would later retire from the Cobblestone Corporation as a Security Guard Officer. Roy answered the call to the Pastorate and served as Pastor of Church of God (Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach and Ft. Pierce) and Next Level of Praise Tabernacle of Prayer (Jensen Beach). Pastor Roy was called to higher service in the kingdom of God and was consecrated a Bishop in the Lord's Church on Sunday, June 23, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Prince and Annie Stevens, his daughter, Jeanice Stevens, his brother, Anthony Stevens and two brothers-in-law, Hubert Peoples and Arnie Roberson.

Great-Grandchildren: Amari, Elijah, Kaiden, Karter, Kai, Vincent Jr. And Asaih
Brothers and Sisters: Mary Peoples, Cleveland Stevens (Joyce), Joseph Stevens (Apollo) and Josephine Roberson.
Brothers and Sisters-in-Law: Lorraine Stevens and Shirley Ritchie
Godchildren: Amos Weaver, Avery Buie, Bonita Dames, Angela Berrian and Charles Berrian. Special Family Friends: Cynthia "Mama C" Mae and James Clark.
