Roy Edward Telega embarked on his final adventure on October 31, 2024. Born on February 7, 1965, in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Roy & Kathryn Towns, Roy was a man whose zest for life was evident in his love for rock and roll, Detroit sports, and the great outdoors.
Roy's adventures were as varied as his extensive collection of rock albums. A true Michigander at heart, Roy bled the colors of Detroit sports. Whether it was the Red Wings, the Lions, the Tigers, or the Pistons, he stood by his teams through thick and thin. His commentary on game days was better than the broadcasters', filled with wisecracks and insights that only Roy could deliver.
His passion wasn't limited to the roar of the crowds, though. Let's not forget his unique and somewhat surprising love for his pet tarantulas, which, like Roy, were far more amiable than they appeared at first glance.
Roy passed away in St. Ignace, Michigan, a place he adored for its tranquil waters and bountiful fishing spots-a true paradise.
A loving father, Roy leaves behind his daughter, Gina Telega, who inherited her dad's sparkling eyes, quick wit, and his profound love for rock and roll.
Roy's life was a masterclass in embracing one's passions and facing the world with a courageous smile. His presence was a gift, his laughter a melody, and his memory a beacon for all who knew him to live life to the fullest. Rock on, Roy, and as you pass the cemetery gates, may the afterlife be ready for your encore.
